Drug Driving Bill

The Victorian Legalise Cannabis party wants to allow people to drive with medicinal cannabis in their system. Provided that they aren’t impaired by it.

Not being able to drive while medicinal cannabis can still be detected in your blood stream has had a big impact on people adopting medicinal cannabis.

In other great news the Lambert Institute recently found cannabis hangovers don’t exist and people aren’t impaired by cannabis the day after.

CBD Stops Cancer?

We already know how helpful CBD is for cancer pain and relieving some of the downsides of cancer treatments. But could it actually stop cancer growing?

A new study has been doing the rounds that found that Cannabinol (CBN) can stop cancer cells growing. This is obviously positive news.

Except that the study was done on cells in a petri dish and not on actual humans. It’s not all bad news though, the effects they did find were significant.

Any potential human applications will need to go through animal and human trials.

You probably aren’t going to convince your mum that getting high is stopping you from getting cancer anytime soon.

Dr Lenny’s Lab

Ever wondered how cannabis works? Do you want a straight, plain-english, no-nonsense, explanation of research results?

Dr. Lenny has the answers.

We are thrilled to announce our new segment: “Dr. Lenny’s Lab”. Dr. Lenny is a brain and plant researcher. Two of our favourite things!

Every second Tuesday Dr. Lenny will answer one question from our subscribers. Dr. Lenny can answer your questions about the brain, medicines, chemistry, biology, and research in the cannabis industry.

The first question will be answered on the 14th of February, so reply to this email or hit us up on Twitter or Facebook with your question.

Cannabis Companies Struggle

The Australian arm of Asterion Canada has collapsed with debts of $8 million. This is Asterion’s second failed attempt to establish a presence in Australia after their merger with Australian Natural Therapeutic Group (ANTG) collapsed at the end of 2022.

Most of the $8 mill is owed to project management and construction consultants so we can assume they were trying to get a grow op up and running. Asterion Canada had previously cooked up ideas of building a $400 million facility with ANTG in Queensland with to grow medicinal cannabis.

Meanwhile MC Therapeutics have given up on their high (😉) goal of building a grow facility north of Brisbane and are now planning to source their product from overseas. They’ve got a very snazzy website though so we guess that counts for something 🤷
