ECS Botanics to supply $9.9m of cannabis for three years
ECS Botanics (ASX:ECS) has signed an almost $10m deal to provide German company Ilios Sante with cannabis for three years. ECS revenues were $7.18m in 2022 and their share price jumped 20% on the news.
The deal gives ECS access to the German market, which is one of the largest in Europe and is expected to grow to $13.8B by 2028.
ECS Botanics is B2B and sells dried flowers and oils to other businesses that they then white label (put their own brands on it).

(PCE is Protective Cropping Enclosures)
ECS have been investing heavily in expanding their growing capacity and have projected in their 2022 annual report that in 2023 they will have 5500m2 of protected cultivation area. Their annual report also states that demand for their products “continued to exceed our ability to supply”. Other customers of ECS are Sun Pharma and Cannvalate.
In December ECS announced it would be importing a smart vape for vaping dried flower that allows users to control their dose of medical cannabis. Dried flower prescriptions on SAS-B have grown by over 20% between 2021 and 2022.
Helius NZ gets approval for THC medicines in NZ
Helius has announced that it is the first to get approval for THC medicines in NZ. Helius is a “vertically integrated” (they do it all) business that breeds new strains of cannabis, grows, extraction (getting the active ingredients out), analytical testing and manufacturing.
According to Helius, the THC containing products have had considerable interest overseas (duh), and for the first time Kiwi’s 🥝 have access to full spectrum medicinal cannabis products produced in NZ.
Oral Medical Cannabis is pretty safe according to researchers
Researchers in Australia recently found that oral medical cannabis was well tolerated (completely fine) for a group of about 4000 people. Well we are just so surprised... 🤷‍♂️

The study observed people taking a total median oral dose of 10mg of Delta-9 THC and 22.5mg of CBD over two years.
The body of evidence about cannabis safety is rapidly growing...
