PLUS: Is indoor grown better quality, Who's High-ering, Legalise Cannabis NSW in with a chance

Good morning. Welcome to The Greenfields, a twice weekly newsletter with everything you need to know about the cannabis business in less than five minutes.
What've we got for you today?
🗑 Popular cannabis brand dumped by Montu☀️ Is indoor grown better quality?🗳 Legalise Cannabis NSW in with a chance💼 Who's High-ering?
Popular cannabis brand dumped by Montu
Montu has dumped Cannatrek from its online portal citing poor reliability and quality.

Cannabiz has reported that Montu told patients via email the popular Cannatrek strain Topaz T25 will be discontinued.
We haven't seen the email, but we took a closer look and all Cannatrek products have disappeared from the Montu product portal.

Patients are apparently being prescribed Upstate Delta One THC flower - a Montu brand - as a substitute.
The claims of quality problems with the Topaz T25 don't really stack up. We took a quick look at a couple of cannabis review sites and patients seem to be pretty happy with Topaz.
Montu's Upstate Delta One THC Flower on the other hand has a dismal 4.0 Avg. rating from 7 reviews.
It's no surprise Montu would leverage their platform and dominant position to increase sales of their in-house brands. Patient sentiment is already fairly low towards Montu and this move could backfire on them.

Dr. Lenny's Lab
A reader asks: Is indoor or outdoor-grown cannabis better quality?
Dr. Lenny: Indoor grown cannabis is the current best-practice for growing medical-grade cannabis. It has higher quality and consistency.
Indoor cultivation gives you complete control over all aspects of the plants, including light, temperature, water quality, and nutrients. This means you can optimise everything about the plant growing. You can get them to do exactly what you want.
In the case of cannabis, this leads to more consistency in the cannabinoid makeup of the flowers.
However, indoor cultivation is expensive because it is energy, water, and nutrient intensive. You are basically replicating things like the sun and the air that you get outside for free.
So obviously outdoor grown cannabis is much cheaper. But because cannabis is wind-pollinated and open to cross-fertilization, even when outdoor cannabis plants are propagated from a single seed, they have plant-to-plant variation.
When done poorly, outdoor cultivation can also cause serious environmental problems.
Cannabis is an unusually resource intensive plant. It needs a lot of fertiliser and water. Over double the amount of other water-intensive crops like cotton and rice! This can lead to damage from water diversion, cause soil acidification, and water eutrophication.
Indoor grown cannabis has advantages over outdoor grown cannabis when it comes to quality and consistency, but it will be more expensive and produce more greenhouse gases.
Legalise Cannabis NSW might get an upper house seat
Legalise Cannabis NSW have so far gotten 3.8% of votes in the NSW upper house election. They are ahead of the Shooters Fishers Farmers party and just behind One Nation who are on 5.7% at the time of writing.
Jeremy Buckingham is the lead candidate for Legalise Cannabis NSW in the Upper House. He's confident of picking up a seat, but they'll have to wait a bit longer before claiming it.

Winning a seat would add to their impressive results in recent state elections. Legalise Cannabis have been on a roll lately capturing 2 upper house seats in Western Australia and Victoria.
Who's High-ering?
We are trialling a new segment: Who's High-ering? 😉
Every now and then, we are going to share a selection of interesting jobs being advertised by the cannabis industry in Australia.
Australian Natural Therapeutics Group are high-ering:
Medicinal Cannabis post-harvest specialist - Are you the first to volunteer to chop the weed for a session? Then this job is for you. If you can land this job you'll get to harvest, dry, trim, and package buds for ANTG. They are high-ering in northern NSW and Tingalpa in South East Queensland.
Operations Sampler - Land this job and you could be sampling ANTG cannabis for quality. It's not what you think though. You won't be ripping cones all day, you'll be taking samples from crops and sending them off to the lab for testing. You'll need previous Quality Control experience in a lab or the healthcare industry.
Horticulturalist/Grower - Love growing cannabis? Well this is the job for you. They say you need 1+ years experience and to be passionate about horticulture and growing. Growing a couple of plants in your cupboard at college is not going to count.
